Making presentations on the web

Saturday, November 8th, 2008

One of the latent advantages of PowerPoint is the ability to create and publish presentations on the Web. From the 2002 version onwards this possibility has existed and is used increasingly as a means to transfer information rapidly and in a colorful, attractive self contained format. Powerpoint presentations can include all the animations, videos and sound effects that we have gotten used to in slide presentations, and lose none of the virtuosity when transported to HTML format. A PowerPoint presentation in HTML Format is a web site in all the meaning of the word. It has its own htm extension and can also be used as a means of interactivity.

PowerPoint is well known for being user friendly, and by exploiting this often unknown and underutilized feature, you can find yourself creating some interesting web effects in next to no time

Fast steps towards public speaking confidence

Saturday, June 14th, 2008

I was amazed at the young woman who had come to our school to talk on personal hygiene. The whole school had assembled on the playground and the lady addressed the gathering on the importance of personal care. The Public Speaking Confidence that she exuded could come only from proper training and practice. Frequent interaction with people, and a good guide to teach modulation, volume control and logic could work wonders. Another crucial factor that enhances confidence is self talk. Assuming one’s self as the audience, constructing questions and answering them, is the best way to reduce fear of public talking and gaining confidence.

How to Deliver a Good Presentation

One of the most common mistakes when giving presentations is the repetitive use of filler words. Filler words are those words that we use unconsciously like um, er, you know, ands, buts, and any words that we use excessively. These words are distracting, and you will leave an impression on your audience that you’re not well-prepared. To improve your presentation skills, you should avoid these words. But since you will not know if you are using these words too much in your presentation, it is best to have your presentation taped so you can watch it later on and take note of these unnecessary words. You will be surprised to know the number of times you have used the words.

Great Logo

When my friend started his business, I suggested he get a logo designed for his company. He said it was not necessary and I did not press further on this.

After a few months he came looking for me and asked me if I knew a good company which can design a logo for his company. He said he felt the need to give people something to associate with his company and he realised that getting a small business logo design would be the best thing to do.
