The Downside of Sauna Use
Sunday, May 10th, 2009Although many people thoroughly enjoy the benefits of saunas, it is not recommended for everyone. Pregnant women should not use steam rooms. The reason for this is because people can feel lightheaded after their time in a steam room and people have been known to pass out afterwards. It does not happen often, but it does happen, so every precaution should be made. People with very high or very low blood pressure are also discouraged from entering a steam room. Going into a steam room after you have drank even a small amount of alcohol can also have an adverse effect on your body as the steam and heat from the steam room sends the effect of alcohol to your brain at a faster pace, making you feel light headed and highly intoxicated. It is wise to consult with a physician if you have any of these issues and still wish to make use of a steam room.
