Is EPA Gas Mileage Constant?
Saturday, November 8th, 2008Sometimes there are complaints that your new car does not deliver the mileage that was recommended by the EPA in its annual EPA mileage ratings. The EPA lists the mileage of the cars based on certain standard environment and road conditions. So, due to several varying factors the mileage of a car on road varies from the prescribed EPA gas mileage values. The mileage varies based on several factors like the road conditions, the weather and others. During cold weather conditions the MPG decreases. The way you drive also determines the mileage. High speed and high acceleration drives also decrease the mileage. So, a proper maintenance of the vehicle is essential to improve its MPG.
