Personal Injury Protection - Be Practical.

Wednesday, May 7th, 2008

It is a statistical fact that the more miles you drive, the more likely you are to be involved in an accident so no matter how good a driver you are personal injury protection is not a luxury. This should not be considered a selfish act as there are other people to think about if you are gifted wit a family that will need financial support. For people with families, people from all walks of life like those taking  electrician education , it is better they try to incorporate personal injury protection or Pip into an existing health insurance plan if it will allow. Unfortunately, this can be an expensive insurance policy to have and many families cannot justify the monthly expense when it is usually they who are most at risk.Unfortunately however, it can be very costly in other ways if the cover is not appropriate or does not cover the intended items. Most US states have already passed laws to ensure people have personal injury and other forms of insurance although the amount of cover is not consistent. This disparity is highlighted when you consider that a driver in the state of Florida will only require one tenth the amount of protection that a driver will need if he is in the state of Alaska. Although there are still some states that have not passed a law on personal injury protection at this time, there is no reason why you should wait until it has before you arrange it.The cover will pay around 80 percent (depending on the plan) of the costs of the insured and passengers. These costs include medical bills, lost wages and other assorted expenses because it is termed a ‘no-fault policy', so it covers you and your passengers, even if the fault was yours. As there can be considerable costs involved with purchasing this type of cover it is worth looking carefully at any current insurance policies you have to see if any of those areas are already catered for; which could lower the amount of protection cover you would need if you took out a new plan. By checking carefully you may discover that certain costs like medical bills and other expenses are already part of your current cover.Depending on the plan, you may not require any additional cover or only minimal in the worst case scenario. An additional factor to consider is the driving ability and record of the policy holder because this will not only dictate the need for personal injury protection but can affect the overall cost. Health insurance plans will often cover the main policy holder as the driver and providing the passengers are relatives, it will usually cover them as well if they are injured. So if your personal injury protection policy does not cover your passengers, it is your responsibility to ensure they are protected.Any passenger in your vehicle should feel safe so it is the driver's responsibility to ensure this is the case. Although you may feel fortunate if you reside in a state that does not require personal injury protection by law, that should not stop you from obtaining it for your own peace of mind. Many drivers find they only require minimal injury cover as they are middle aged, experienced drivers with a good record and already have an adequate health insurance plan in force. On the other hand, when you are young and just starting out and probably don't have much in the way of health and liability insurance, you will want to protect yourself, your family and your future by carrying as much insurance as you can afford.

Critical Illness Insurance - A Wise Move in Life.

Wednesday, May 7th, 2008

Surely planning for any eventuality regarding your health is a wise decision; although critical illness insurance can worry some people, this type of cover can provide peace of mind should your health fail at some point. This type of coverage is designed to provide your family with peace of mind if anything were to happen whereby you would no longer be able to work and generate an income.Studies have shown there is a strong possibility that at some stage in your life you will suffer from a critical illness so most of the insurance providers now cater for these conditions. Studies have highlighted the problem with almost one man in five by the time they retire having a serious medical condition. This figure reduces, but only slightly, for women with around 15 percent having a severe health condition before retirement.Insurance companies are of the opinion that because people do not believe it will happen to them or there is general ignorance about the subject that these could be the reasons why so few people arrange critical illness insurance for themselves. Although this type of protection is taken out for many reasons, the majority of people use it to protect their mortgage repayments but these days, critical illness cover and life insurance can be linked directly with mortgage repayments.Whilst over the last few years the amount of insurance policies arranged online has increased dramatically, not every type of policy was available but coverage for critical illness has now been added. However, this is an area which is still developing and even now, problems occur owing to the nature of the policy type trying to be arranged. Understandably, insurance providers want to see physical proof that the applicant does not have any outstanding conditions before they arrange the coverage. If you have to make a claim on your critical illness insurance policy, the last thing you want is insensitivity or apparent non co-operation from your insurer.  By understanding this, you need to be aware that even being confined to  wheelchairs  can defer you from using your insurance policy. Some groups of people will automatically enter a high risk category like those who either smoke or have given up within the previous twelve months. Many things are taken into account when dealing with the risk factor associated with any type of policy including the applicant's age, their overall health, whether the type of work they do is dangerous or any activities they participate in, not just whether they are a smoker.Of course, no-one can underestimate just how much the financial assistance critical illness insurance can provide for a person who has a terminal illness. If you have family responsibilities then there can be no debate about the benefits of having an insurance plan set up and in place should the worst happen.

Data Security

Wednesday, May 7th, 2008

If we don’t make some moves to improve our data security, we’re going to be in big trouble. of course, say that to management, and it falls on deaf ears. They just aren’t willing to pony up the necessary funds until it’s too late.
It’s fallen to me, as usual, to fix this. I’m researching Data Security Software as we speak, trying to find a way to get it through management’s thick skulls.
I don’t have much choice, since I’ll be the one to take the heat if a breach does occur, even if management continues to refuse to fix the situation.
